in addition to my previous post, i would like to add some experiences after having communicated with rene.

basically as rene pointed out, turning off the airport card on my mac did wonders. i am a photographer/designer etc... so like most of you i also spend a fair amount of time behind this rectangle full of waves. i always thought flat monitors were not that bad but i guess it is not the monitor but the airport card sending out strong waves to communicate with the base station. my reactions are anxiety, headaches, pressure in my head and chest. feel warm and start feeling weak etc... so not at all pleasant. however, it depends on my general condition. if my general condition is very good, the reactions are also less.

some people are extremely sensitive to waves. i even heard of a woman who started screaming on the train here in japan because many people were using their mobile phones. waves are all around us since mobile phones and all types of wireless products and services have invaded our world.

i definitely believe that many of our modern ailments have to do with this fact. people are being prescribed all kinds of stuff and are always being told that things are between their ears, yet in many cases it has to do with allergies to our modern times - microwaves ! well, i am glad i found out about my sensitivities but how to escape this wave jungle?? hmmmmm.

there are supposedly some tools to shield off waves but how good are they? i have never tried any. i believe many are pricey and probably fake.

if anyone has any info on viable options on shielding these crappy waves messing with us, i would be happy to hear about it. i will also let anyone know once i find out more about these things.

what about life without mobile phones and wireless services and products - i can certainly imagine it !

hi there.

i completely understand what you are experiencing and i believe it is as you mentioned from sitting behind the computer. dont think it is specifically related to Mac computers but as i also only use macs, in my case it is also when working with my macs.

i know quite a bit about electrosmog and know that i am very sensitive to it, e.g. getting headaches in electronic stores and pressure in my head etc...

this is the same when working with computers. i had a big problem with my i-book when not using any external keyboard since my hands would be ON the computer and i could sense the electricity going through my body. basically i would feel nautious, anxious etc... after buying an external keyboard and using graphic tablet i have no problem at all with my laptop, also since laptop monitors seem to have a very low electric voltage or emission (not sure how to say it in technical terms)

jst recently i bought the new iMac 20" and although i like the computer as such i am encountering quite a lot of problems with it in the form of physical reactions. i have to say this usually happens after sitting in front of it for quite a few hours but since i am in the creative field as you it is quite usual to be sitting in front of the computer longer than a few hours. my physical reactions are feeling nautious, pressure in my head, dizzy etc... it slowly disappears after stopping the computer work. it is SUPER ANNOYING and although i know for a fact where it comes from, it is tough to change. i know there are some devices which supposedly guard your body from electric waves/electrosmog and i might give it a try. not sure if and how well it works.

the thing is electrosmog sensitivity can lower your immune system and might make you more susceptible to colds etc... as well.

curious to know how you are doing now. hope you feel better.
