{ in progress } Reethi Rah
IN PROGRESS - The most recent font I’m working on is called Reethi Rah.
Me and my wife spent our honeymoon on the Maldives at the One&Only Resort ‘Reethi Rah’ and this inspired me to sketch out a new font. (Some people make photos.) The resort was loaded with lots of fantastic ornaments and patterns that will find their way into the font.
I wanted to capture the warmth and romantic atmosphere of this island. The complete Reethi Rah staff was so very very nice to us, that I want to show my respect and friendship by honouring them with a font. This way I will always remember them.
Reethi Rah is all about the details. The wavy serifs, abrupt changing curves, effective inktraps and playfull stems give the font a warm and pleasant character. Character width, spacing and inner forms are optimized for setting long texts in books. My hope is that designers will use it to set novels and other books.
