Installing PC PostScript Type 1 (Windows 2000 & XP)

SUPPORT - Need help with installing your fonts under Windows 2000 or XP?

On a PC the PostScript fonts consist out of four files: .pfb, .pfm, .afm and .inf.
Windows 2000 and XP have native PostScript support, it’s not necessary to use a third party font managment utility.

Your font files should be stored at ‘C:\WINDOWS\Fonts’ (the Fonts folder is accessible through the Control Panel).

Installing a new PostScript font:
Go to the ‘Fonts’ folder (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Fonts). Under ‘File’ you can find ‘Install new font’. Select the font you want to add, and click OK to finish the installation.

- Tip: use CTRL to select more than one font.
- Tip in XP: switch to Classic View, makes your life a bit easier.
- Make sure you have the ‘Copy fonts to font folder’ box checked. This will take care that the fonts are copied to the right place on your hard disk.
- If you don’t see Start/Settings/Control Panel, you can find the Control Panel in Start/Settings/Configuration.
